Adderton: house & heart of mercy
Welcome to The Good Cup Café located within Adderton: house & heart of mercy. This café is a collaboration between the Sisters of Mercy and Holy Cross Services.
“The Good Cup” name is a tribute to Venerable Catherine McAuley’s words in her final moments
“Will you tell the Sisters to get a good cup of tea…when I am gone and to comfort one another.”1
The choice of the Café’s name was deliberate, connecting this space with the spirit of Catherine McAuley and the ethos of the Sisters of Mercy which is to provide warmth and sustenance to those who pass through their doors. The presence of the Café within Adderton: house & heart of mercy is a symbol of this enduring Mercy hospitality.
Holy Cross was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1889, with a mission to support people with disability and the disadvantaged by providing integrated and inclusive employment opportunities offered according to our core values of dignity, respect, integrity and compassion.
The Good Cup Café is a continuation of this Vision, providing a place where people of all abilities can work together in a safe, inclusive and respectful environment that enables and empowers our team to provide this warm, welcoming and friendly space for you to enjoy.
So, come and join us for a good cup……..

As a ministry of the Sisters of Mercy, Holy Cross Services is committed to providing an integrated and inclusive work environment that enables people to develop to their full potential while meeting our customers’ needs professionally and efficiently. Holy Cross Services seeks to provide people of all abilities with the opportunity to fully participate in the community through the provision of meaningful employment opportunities in laundry, cleaning and food services.
Originally established in 1889 as a commercial laundry, Holy Cross Laundry has continued to provide linen and laundry services throughout Brisbane and South East Queensland for 130 years.
In April 2018 Holy Cross Laundry expanded into the provision of Cleaning Services and in March 2019 was renamed to Holy Cross Services to reflect the evolving nature of our service offerings.
In April 2019 the Sisters of Mercy approached Holy Cross Services with the opportunity to manage and operate a café in Adderton: house & heart of mercy and in August 2019 the Holy Cross Food Services division was established.
The Good Cup Café within Adderton: house & heart of mercy is Holy Cross Services' first step into the provision of Food Services and we are excited about being able to expand the range of integrated employment opportunities that we can provide to people of all abilities.
